Originally from Northern England, Alan Norsworthy has been a photographer since the late 1960's. He moved to Canada in 1973 and made Guelph, Ontario his home for over 30 years and recently moved to Parrsboro, Nova Scotia, a small artistic community on the Bay of Fundy Alan has been involved with photography since his early teens. However life, children, mortgages and work pushed aside his passion for photography. Now later in life he has the time to pursue his hobby, or should I say his “passion”. Although his first love is using old film cameras he has embraced the digital age with modern equipment from Nikon and Fuji. His wet darkroom of long ago has been replaced with the new digital darkroom in the form of computer technology. No matter, whether it is film, old cameras or the new digital cameras of today Alan uses the tools at hand to record what he sees as he travels the land that he loves “your love for the land is evident in your images” was a recent comment he received and he agrees, it is the land in all it’s beauty and all it’s seasons that drives him forward. In sharing what he sees he hopes to inspire others. He believes that this will help preserve what we have for our children and their children.
